Subject Information File relates to James Maloney's unsuccessful application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of his brother Edward Maloney who was shot and killed by British forces at Guillmore/Caherguillamore House, Bruff, County Limerick on 27 December 1920. James Maloney awarded an allowance from 5 September 1957, however applicant had died in 1955. No payment was therefore made. Noted that he was killed while trying to evade capture during a raid on a dancehall. Reported in file that a Martin Conway was killed in the same incident. Noted in Military Service Registration Board references from Richard O'Donnell that Maloney had taken part in the Grange ambush, Kilmallock. O'Donnell also mentions that Maloney fatally wounded a member of the British forces during the exchage at Caherguillamore House. John Maloney, father of deceased, made an application for compensation under the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee. He was awarded a gratuity of £100.
