Subject Information File relates to Morgan McSweeney’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of his son John McSweeney, who was shot and wounded by British forces on 4 January 1921. McSweeny died on 6 January 1921. Noted that he was shot in the area of Newmarket, County Cork. Noted in file that deceased was shot while leaving Allen's Bridge Co-operative Store for his home. It is claimed that McSweeney was with two others when they were called to halt and were shot when they failed to do so. Morgan McSweeney made an application for compensation under the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee and was awarded a gratuity of £50.
