McSweeny died on 6 January 1921. Noted that he was shot in the area of Newmarket, County Cork. Noted in file that deceased was shot while leaving Allen's Bridge Co-operative Store for his home. It is claimed that McSweeney was with two others when they were called to halt and were shot when they failed to do so.
