Partial file relates to Bridget O’Connor (Black)’s receipt of a partial dependents’ gratuity of £112.10.00 (one hundred and twelve pounds and ten shillings sterling) under the Army Pensions Act, 1932 in respect of her son IRA Private James O’Connor.
According to material on file James O’Connor was executed by the National Army during the Civil War on 19 December 1922 at the Curragh, County Kildare. It is stated that he had been sentenced to death by Military Court for being in possession of rifles, ammunition, detonators and exploder at Rathbride, County Kildare on 12 December 1922. It is also stated that James O’Connor had served with the IRA from 1920 onwards and during the War of Independence, Truce period and Civil War.
