File relates to Richard Hanley's receipt of a partial dependents' gratuity of £112.10.00 (one hundred and twelve pounds and ten shillings sterling) in 1933 under the Army Pensions Act, 1932 in respect of his son IRA Private Cornelius Hanley. File also relates to an application made by Theresa Hanley, sister of Cornelius Hanley under the Army Pensions Act, 1953. Theresa Hanley died on 1 February 1956 prior to the completion of the investigation of her claim.
Cornelius Hanley was killed in action against National Army forces on 18 September 1922 at Grantstown, Donaskeigh, County Tipperary during the Civil War. According to material on file Hanley had served with the Irish Volunteers and IRA from 1918 onwards and during the War of Independence and Civil War.
