Subject Information File relates to Margaret Seery's receipt of a partial dependents' gratuity of £112.10.00 (one hundred and twelve pounds and ten shillings sterling) in 1935 under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of her brother IRA Private Patrick Seery. File also contains material relating to applications from Joseph and Michael Seery, brothers of Patrick and Margaret. The outcome of these applications are unclear from the material on file. Patrick Seery died from the effects of a gunshot wound accidentally received while cleaning guns at his home in Coolanarney, Blueball, Tullamore, County Offaly during the Civil War. According to information on file Patrick Seery had served with the IRA from 1920 onwards and during the War of Independence, Truce period and Civil War. File includes: original handwritten and typed material submitted and signed by Margaret, Michael and Joseph Seery in connection with their applications; medical certificates reports and examinations relating to Margaret Seery; representations on behalf of Michael Seery from Joseph Reddin; signed handwritten reports dated 7 May and 29 June 1934 from Customs and Excise investigating officers, Birr, County Offaly and Tullamore, County Offaly regarding the circumstances and means of the Seery family and the degree of dependency of Margaret Seery on her brother Patrick at the time of the latter's death; material (1 January - 1 February 1935) relating to payments made to Mrs O'Carroll's Nursing Home, 31 Upper Mount Street, Dublin in respect of six named applicants under the Army Pensions Acts including Margaret Seery; and signed handwritten statements regarding Patrick Seery's service and death from Sean McGuinness and J. Keena.
