Subject Information File relates to Mary Nolan's receipt of a partial dependents' gratuity of £112.10.00 (one hundred and twelve pounds and ten shillings sterling) in 1933 under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of her son IRA Private Patrick Nolan. Patrick Nolan was executed by the [National Army] on 19 December 1922 at the Curragh Camp, County Kildare during the Civil War. He had been sentenced to death by Military Court for being, with others, in possession of rifles, ammunition, detonators and explosives at Rathbride, County Kildare on 12 December 1922. The Military Service Registration Board certified Patrick Nolan as having served from October 1922 onwards. File includes: original handwritten material submitted and signed by Mary Nolan in support of her application; signed handwritten report dated 28 June 1933 from Customs and Excise investigating officer, Newbridge, County Kildare regarding the circumstances and means of the Nolan family and the degree of dependency of Mary Nolan on her son at the time of the latter's death; and signed handwritten statement regarding Patrick Nolan's service from Thomas Harris.
