Subject Information File relates to Denis Creedon Senior's receipt of a partial dependents' gratuity of £100 (one hundred pounds sterling) in 1936 under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of his son IRA Private Denis Creedon Junior. File also relates to the award of dependents' allowances under the Army Pensions Acts to Mary and Michael Creedon, sister and brother respectively of Denis Creedon Junior. Mary Creedon received her allowance from 1954 until her death in 1962 while Michael Creedon was in receipt of an allowance from 1962 until his death in 1976. Denis Creedon Junior died on 16 September 1922 at the Mercy Hospital, Cork from the effects of wounds received by him in action against National Army forces near Donoughmore, County Cork on 14 September 1922 during the Civil War. According to material on file, Denis Creedon Junior had served with the IRA from some time in 1919 onwards and during the War of Independence, Truce period and Civil War. Healy; representations (1954-1962) on behalf of Mary and Michael Creedon from Con Meaney TD; material relating to the settlement and closure of Mary Creedon's dependents' allowance account following her death on 4 February 1962; material relating to the settlement and closure of Michael Creedon's dependents' allowance account following his death on 20 November 1976; and signed handwritten statements regarding Denis Creedon Junior's service and death from John J.
