Subject Information File relates to Dora Fleming’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of her brother Thomas Fleming who was killed at Glountane/Clountane, Cordal, Castleisland, County Kerry on 16 June 1921. Noted in file that Fleming was laying a mine for an ambush on British forces when it exploded. Includes unsuccessful application from Edmund Fleming and Hanoria Comyn, siblings of deceased, for an award. Also includes successful application from Annie Fleming, sister of deceased, for an award. Dora Fleming received a grant of £63 from the White Cross Association. An increased gratuity of £120 (total) was recommended but not sanctioned by the Minister for Finance (16 August 1927). Annie Fleming claims that during the War of independence deceased took part in ambushes at Clounbannon, Toureengoriv, Headfort, Dingle, Scartaglen and Brosna.
