File relates to Hugh Gallagher's receipt of a partial dependents' gratuity of £112.10.00 (one hundred and twelve pounds and ten shillings sterling) in 1936 and a dependents allowance from July 1940 until his death, under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of his son IRA Private Hugh Gallagher (junior).
Hugh Gallagher died on 12 December 1922 at Drumboe, County Donegal from the effect of wounds received by him the previous day while trying to escape from National Army custody at Drumboe. According to information on the file Hugh Gallagher served with the IRA during the War of Independence and Civil War from 1920 until his death.
