Subject Information File relates to Thomas Lyddy's receipt of a military service pension in respect of his service with the IRA in the service periods between 1 April 1920 and 30 September 1923 during the War of Independence, Truce period and Civil War. The applicant also unsuccessfully claimed for the service periods between 1 April 1917 and 31 March 1920. The file also relates to Thomas Lyddy's unsuccessful application for a Special Allowance (DP). The applicant claims to have cut roads, railway lines and enemy communication lines; claims to have participated in ambushes at Monreal and Clifton; claims to have destroyed bridges and helped with the demolition of buildings at Willbrook and [Knocknorecha]; claims to have raided for arms; claims to have been on the run from December 1920, and to have been involved with a column.
