Subject Information |
File relates to Bridget Meany’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of her son Patrick Meany who died on 21 May 1920 in the Mater Hospital, Dublin. Death recorded as taxalmia following broncho pneumonia and oedema of lungs.
Mother claims that deceased received burns as a result of an explosion during the destruction of Ballybrack RIC Barracks, County Dublin.
Applicant made a further unsuccessful application for an award under subsequent Army Pensions Acts. The Army Pensions Board recommended Bridget Meany be awarded an allowance between June 1937 and November 1941.However as her means exceeded the sum of £40 no award was made.
Applicant received £10 from the White Cross Association.
File contains: report from an Garda Síochána detailing Bridget Meany’s circumstances and dependency on deceased at the time of his death; Military Service Registration Board references from Charles Somers and Peadar O'Meara; certified copy of death certificate; social welfare reports; material relating to family partly closed for reasons of data protection.
