Subject Information File relates to James Crawford’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of his son Edmond Crawford who was wounded by British forces on 21 or 23 March 1921 at Glenlara, County Limerick and died on 23 or 25 March 1921. Also includes unsuccessful application from Bridget Crawford, sister of deceased, for an award. Noted that Crawford was among a party conveying a prisoner named O'Gorman, who was sentenced to death as a spy, to Bulgaden, Kilmallock when they were fired on by British forces. Crawford was wounded and taken the next day to Kilmallock hospital where he died from his wounds. Mentioned that deceased was an important witness for the defence of the prisoners in the Knocklong train raid. James Crawford made an unsuccessful application for £3000 compensation under the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee and the Compensation (Ireland) Commission. Applicant received £25 from the White Cross Association.
