File relates to Norah Flynn’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of her son John Flynn who was shot and killed by British forces on 10 July 1921 at Castleisland, County Kerry.
Also includes application from Nora Flynn, sister of deceased, for an award. Reference made to sister having been awarded a gratuity of £45 under the Army Pensions Act, 1932. The Army Pensions Board recommended a gratuity of £72.10.0 and later a gratuity of £110. Sister awarded an allowance from 2 June 1937.
Reference made to James Flynn, brother of deceased, as having served in the First World War in France and as having served in the New Zealand Army (1920s).
Nora Flynn made an unsuccessful application for compensation under the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee and the Compensation (Ireland) Commission for £3,000 compensation. Applicant received an allowance from the White Cross Association.
