Subject Information File relates to Ellen Scully’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of her son William Scully who was shot and killed on 28 May 1920 during an attack Kilmallock RIC Barracks, County Limerick. Also includes application from Ellen Scully, sister of deceased, for an award. Ellen Scully, sister, withdrew her application. Ellen Scully made an unsuccessful application for £8000 compensation under the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee. John J Scully, father of deceased, made an unsuccessful application for £5000 compensation under the Compensation (Ireland) Commission. Ellen Scully received £25 from the White Cross Association. Reference to Scully's brother, Seán "Bertie" Scully, as having been in charge of a column (Active Service Unit (Flying Column)) that operated between Killarney, Glenbeigh and Castlemaine. Seán Scully was arrested prior to the General Elections and tried in connection with assaulting the Reverend Fr O'Sullivan, CC. Scully was discharged.
