Subject Information File relates to Mary Byrne’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of her son James Byrne who was wounded on 12 October 1920 as a result of an accidental mine explosion at St Kieran's, Saltmills, County Wexford and died on 13 October 1920. Also includes successful application from Johanna Parle, sister of deceased, for an award. Mary Byrne states she received £30 from the White Cross Association. Johanna Parle was eligible for an allowance from 5 August 1953 during widowhood, however the Minister for Finance was not of the opinion that she was dependent on the deceased. File contains: report from An Garda Síochána detailing Mary Byrne’s circumstances and dependency on deceased at the time of his death; Military Service Registration Board references from Thomas O'Hanlon and John Whelan; certificate of baptism for Mary Roche; social welfare reports; certified copy of marriage certificate for the marriage between Patrick Parle and Johanna Byrne; certified copy of death certificate for Patrick Parle.
