Subject Information File relates to Walter Walsh’s unsuccessful application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the accidental death of his brother Robert Walter Walsh on 12 October 1920 at St Kieran's, Saltmills, County Wexford while engaged in the manufacture of munitions. The Army Pensions Board found that there was no dependency on deceased Walter Walsh made an application for compensation under the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee. Walsh states that an aunt of deceased received £15 from the White Cross Association. File contains: report from an Garda Síochána detailing Walter Walsh’s circumstances and dependency on deceased at the time of his death. File DP5633 contains handwritten letter from Farrell JK Sweetman on behalf of Johanna Clegg (sister of Robert Walsh) enquiring about compensation. He was informed that the claim could not be considered as the latest date for applications was 09 December 1933 and the “minister has no discretionary power to accept an application made after that date”. It was also noted that it was not clear that Walsh was a member of a prescribed organisation under the terms of the acts.
