Subject Information File relates to Anna White's application for dependant's allowance or gratuity, under the Army Pensions Act 1923, in respect of her son Patrick White, who was accidentally shot and killed 19 December 1922. Anna White's application form states that Patrick White was accidentally shot at Portlaoighise Court House, County Laois. A letter from the Army Pensions Department, dated 10 January 1924, states that White was accidentally shot at Marybore (Maryborough) Military Barracks. Reference made to payment from Army Funds. Copy signed letter from Margaret Collins O'Driscoll, TD states that White was a member of Fianna Éireann and the IRA since he was ten years old. File includes: application form and material submitted by Anna White in support of her application; Adjutant General's report confirming the circumstances surrounding White's death; Dublin Metropolitan Police report detailing Anna White's circumstances and her level of dependence on her son at the time of his death.
