File also relates to Christina Smylie's receipt of a dependents' allowance in respect of her brother Patrick Joseph Banks. Patrick Joseph Banks died on 20 September 1922 near Mount Benbulben at Lislahelly, County Sligo from the effects of bullet wounds received from National Army forces. References on the file state that Patrick Joseph Banks was one of six IRA men killed at that time by National Army forces after having been taken prisoner during the Civil War. According to references on file Banks had also served with Na Fianna Éireann and the IRA during the War of Independence.
