Subject Information File relates to Stephen Bergin’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of his son Joseph Bergin, a Military Policeman, who found shot several times on 14 December 1923 at the canal at Milltown, County Kildare. Father claims that his son was travelling from Dublin to the Curragh Camp, County Kildare. Handwritten note dated April 1925 states that ex-Captain J Murray was charged with the murder of Bergin at the central criminal court, case had been adjourned until June [1925]. File contains: report from An Garda Síochána detailing Stephen Bergin's circumstances and dependency on deceased at the time of his death.
