File relates to Margaret Lynn's receipt of a dependents' allowance under the Army Pensions Act, 1923 in respect of her son National Army Private John Lynn. Originally granted a gratuity of £100 (one hundred pounds sterling) this was changed to an allowance of 15 shillings sterling per week on appeal.
Private John Lynn died in an ambush in County Tipperary on 17 September 1922 during the Civil War. The location of this ambush is given as Bohercross, Nenagh, County Tipperary and Bushfield, Nenagh, County Tipperary. Prior to joining the National Army John Lynn served with the Scottish Brigade of the IRA in Glasgow.
