Actual physical files referred to are identical. Private William Howlett was killed in action in Waterford on 22 July 1922 or 20 August 1922 during the Civil War - both dates given on file. Prior to joining the National Army William Howlett had served with the British Army in the Irish Guards. Private Joseph John Howlett died on 5 September 1922 from a gun shot wound accidentally received at Fethard, County Tipperary on 5 September 1922 during the Civil War.
