Subject Information File relates to Mary Anne McNamara’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of her son James McNamara who was injured in a motor accident on Grafton Street, Dublin on 13 September 1922 and died on 15 September 1922. Dependant's Allowance paid to 31 March 1924 from Army Funds. Includes unsuccessful application by Mary McNamara, sister, for an allowance. Also includes unsuccessful application by Brigid Spillane, sister, for an allowance. Reference made to James McNamara's role as a former member of the DMP (Dublin Metropolitan Police). McNamara's father, Michael J McNamara was formerly a Sergeant in the DMP. Following James McNamara's enlistment in the National Army he was attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Oriel House. In August 1922 McNamara was transferred to Kerry before his return to Dublin.
