Subject Information File relates to James and Annie Murray’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of their son Joseph Murray who was wounded in the Park Street Hotel, Dundalk, County Louth on 30 August 1922 and died 4 September 1922. Reference made to applicants receiving monies from Army Funds. Also includes unsuccessful application from Julia Clarke nee Murray for an award in respect of her brother. Joseph Murray had a brother, Terence, who was a member of Garda Síothchána. Joseph Murray was a member of the British Army and served in the First World War and was a member of the Royal Horse Artillery. Sister claims that he was a member of the IRA in Kilcock, however M Flynn states that Murray was not a member of the IRA. Julia Murray includes a handwritten copy extract taken from the "Leinster Leader" newspaper dated 22 September 1922. Extract makes reference to Murray's gun going off accidentally. File contains: Military Service Registration Board references from M Flynn; certified copy of death certificate for Stephen Clarke (Julia Clarke's husband); certified copy of birth certificate for Julia Murray; certified copy of marriage certificate between Julia Murray and Stephen Clarke.
