Subject Information File relates to Daniel Cooper's receipt of a partial dependents' gratuity of £50 (fifty pounds sterling) under the Army Pensions Act, 1923 in respect of his son National Army Lieutenant Clement Cooper. File also relates to Daniel Cooper's unsuccessful appeals against this award and also to an unsuccessful application by Ellen Breen under the Army Pensions Act, 1953 in respect of her brother Clement Cooper. Lieutenant Clement Cooper was killed in action at Araghmoon, Aughatubrid near Caherciveen, County Kerry on 4 September 1922 during the Civil War. Clement Cooper had also served with the IRA during the War of Independence.
