Subject Information File relates to Sean Francis Lemass’s receipt of a military service pension in respect of his service with the Irish Volunteers and IRA for part or all of the various periods between 1 April 1916 and 30 September 1923. File contains material relating to the subject's service from 1 April 1916, his mobilisation on Tuesday 25 April 1916 during the Easter Rising with the Dublin Brigade of the Irish Volunteers, his service with the IRA during the War of Independence, and with the General Headquarters staff of the IRA during the Civil War and until his release from internment in October 1923. File includes: typed transcript (2 pages) of sworn statement made by Sean Francis Lemass on 1 October 1942 before the Advisory Committee, Military Service Pensions Act, 1934; signed handwritten letter from Prionsias Mac Ionnraic (Frank Henderson) submitted in support of Lemass’s service pension claim. File also contains material relating to subject's request for a 1916 Service Medal as well as reference and material relating to claimant's wife, two daughters and son in law (Charles J. Haughey).
