Subject Information File relates to Michael Seery's receipt of a military service pension in respect of his service with the IRA for part of the periods between 1 April 1920 and 30 September 1923. Applicant also claimed unsuccessfully for other periods. Says that he was involved in; attack on Clara Barracks, County Offaly (June 1920); destruction of Mountbolus Barracks (April 1920); raids for arms; blocking roads; shooting alleged spy named Lawlor at Killoughey (May 1921) ambushed RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary) at Kinnity (June 1921); shooting alleged spy named Pearson at Cadamstown (June 1921). Noted in reference from Sean Robbins that during the War of Independence Seery was involved in: attack on British forces at Coalgap, Blueball (October 1920); attack on RIC patrol in May 1921 in which two RIC were killed and one wounded at Kinnity. Reference also states that Seery was involved in "shooting Pearson family and destruction of their home...Pearson family were found guilty of shooting at and wounding an IRA man while engaged in road blocking." Seery claims that in the Truce period he was involved in training, collecting arms and intelligence work. Following the outbreak of the Civil War applicant claims that he was involved in: blocking roads; sniping on National Forces at Kilcomac and Clonaslee. eference also states that Seery was involved in attack at Ferbane. Applicant says that he was arrested at Blueball on 25 August 1922 and interned at Maryborough and The Curragh, County Kildare. Noted in file that Seery had a brother accidentally killed.
