Title Dublin Brigade (General Activities), 2 Eastern Division 
Scope and Content File contains various listings sent to the Army Pensions Board in connection with operations that took place in the Dublin Brigade area mostly between 1914 and 1923. General lists: Typed list of ‘Events of Importance’ sent on 2 January 1935 by Oscar Traynor. The list shows events from the Howth gun-running in 1914 to the attack on the Four Courts in 1922. Most events are dated (mostly month and year only). Frank Thornton provides the same list to the Pensions Board; handwritten letter from Frank Henderson dated 25 January 1935 accompanies a listing of events that took place after the evacuation of O’Connell Street Buildings in July 1922 (4pp, including ‘supplemental list’; some events only roughly dated and some carry the annotation ‘2nd Brigade’); typed copy of ‘Activities in Dublin City 1920-1921’; handwritten list of events from January 1920 to 27 March 1921. Following request from the Pensions Board, a list (copy) of the names of men who were in action at the Gresham Hotel on Bloody Sunday was provided by Oscar Traynor The men were all members of D Company of 2nd Battalion: Patrick Moran, James Foley (Officers), Michael Noone, J Moloney, W Hogan, J Doyle, M Kilkelly, G McCann, R McGrath, P Kennedy, J Glynn, M Durnan, N Leonard, M Donelan. Also contains handwritten and typed lists of participants in connection with other events: list of the “men who took part in the operation against British Intelligence Officers on 20 November 1920 (Bloody) at Morehampton Rd.Donnybrook”, according to James Bird (MSP34REF2445) (Bird, Davitt, O’Donnell, Norton, Finlayson, Young, White, Brennan); typed list showing the ‘participants in Destruction of Custom House (‘III Battn area’)’ (12 names; furnished by Oscar Traynor); also on file, corrected list of armed men who took part in Templeogue ambush (7 names). Also contains handwritten (and typed copy) letter from Frank Henderson to the Office of the Referee dated 2 January 1935 relates incidents that occurred in Fairview during the 1916 Rising. Newspaper typed extracts: Typed copy extract from the Irish Independent (Monday, April 3rd, 1922) ‘Mobilisation of Dublin IRA’ (shows the strength of the 5 battalions in January 1922: “official figures supplied to the Press gave the number of men mobilised at 3,220 and it was stated that the strength of the Brigade in January, 1922, was 3,600”; typed copy extracts and summaries of newspaper reports on the attack on Four-Courts and O’Connell Street buildings (from 28 June 1922 to 5 July 1922; 2 copies), and on the death of Cathal Brugha.
