Scope and Content File relates to submission of material relating to activities carried out between 23 April 1916 and 12 July 1922 within or by 4 South Sligo Brigade, 3 Western Division, IRA by that brigade committee to the Office of the Referee, Military Service Pensions Act, 1934. 4 South Sligo Brigade, 3 Western Division, IRA was formed following the end of the War of Independence (11 July 1921) and prior to the outbreak of the Civil War (28 June 1922). Prior to that the units of this brigade belonged to the Sligo Brigade Irish Volunteers and IRA. File includes: original and copy signed and unsigned handwritten and typed listings and details of activities – including names or names and addresses of participants - carried out by the following units of 4 South Sligo Brigade, 3 Western Division: 1 (Tobercurry (Tubbercurry)) Battalion, - previously 6 Battalion, Sligo Brigade; Collooney, Coolaney, C (Ballysadare (Ballisodare)), D (Carrickbanagher), Skreen, Templeboy and Ballygawley companies, 2 (Collooney) Battalion – previously 7 Battalion, Sligo Brigade; A (Ballymote), B (Kesh (Keash)), C (Culfadda), D (Killavil (Killaville)), E (Bunnanaddan (Bunnanadden, Bunninadden)), Emlaghnaghtan (Emlanaughten), Kilcreevin (Kilcreevan), H (Ballinafad), I (Derroon (Deroon)) and Doocastle companies, 3 (Ballymote) Battalion – previously 3 Battalion, Sligo Brigade; and 4 (Gurteen) Battalion – previously 4 Battalion, Sligo Brigade. Cremen regarding contents of telephone conversation with F. Carty T. D. regarding the case of John Connolly, Templehouse, Ballinacarrow, Ballymote, County Sligo and referring to Carty's claims regarding faked references for certain service pension applicants from 4 Brigade, 3 Western Division IRA, his (Carty's) departure from the Brigade Committee, the workings of that Committee and statement that the "...Records [of the 4 Brigade, 3 Western Division, IRA] will not stand investigation; partial index (2 pages) to file by 40 selected engagements; and [misfiled] copy typed document (1 page) dated Friday 8 February 1952 entitled: "The Military College Curragh Training Camp - Daily Routine Orders by Colonel Thomas Feely, Acting Commandant, The Military College - Part I"
