Companies and units whose activities are included or referred to are: A, B, companies, 1 Battalion; A (Knockavilla), B (Annacarty), C (Hollyford), D (Rossmore), E (Clonoulty) companies, 3 Battalion; A, B (Mount Bruis), C (Donohill), D (Donaskeagh (Donaskeigh)), E (Solloghodbeg (Soloheadbeg)), F (Bansha), Kilross and K (Lattin) companies 4 Battalion; A and H, B (Kilsheelan), C, D, E and F companies, 5 Battalion; A (Drangan), B (Ballingarry), C, D, E, F, G companies, 7 Battalion; A, C, D, E, F, G, H and Killonerry ([K]) companies, 8 Battalion; and active service units/columns operating under the command of Michael Sheehan, Martin "Sparky" Breen, William (Bill) Tobin, Denis Lacey, William (Bill) Quirke, Jack Killeen, Patrick Dalton, Thomas Sadlier and [?] Nugent during 1922 and 1923. Material on file also refers to those arrested, interned or imprisoned, appointments at various levels within the Brigade and casualties suffered and inflicted. According to material on file Kilross and Lattin companies were part of the Galtee Battalion, East Limerick Brigade until transferring to 4 Battalion, 3 Tipperary Brigade in late 1918 and early 1920 respectively. File also includes: original signed handwritten and typed and unsigned copy typed listings/details of activities and related correspondence and documentation involving members of the 3 Tipperary Brigade Committee, officials of the Office of the Referee, Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, Dan Breen T. D., and Senator William Quirke; 29 names and addresses of members of Kilross Company; 27 and 14 names of members of C Company, 7 Battalion on 11 July 1921 and between 1 July 1922 and 31 March 1923 respectively; partial indexes to activities of 3 Battalion by engagement; original signed handwritten and copy typed correspondence (7 - 15 May 1947) between S. Babington and the Secretary, [Department of Defence] regarding Babington's request for the return to him of material relating to [3 Tipperary Brigade IRA] deposited by him with the Office of the Referee, Military Service Pensions Act, 1934, and which Babington claims the author Desmond Ryan may have had access to while writing "Sean Treacy and the Third Tipperary Brigade"; and typed 17 page copy of document entitled "The 3rd Tipperary Brigade in the Fight for Independence" - with handwritten note stating that it is a paper read by Sean Fitzpatrick to a public meeting held by Trinity College F[ianna] F[áil] Club at Wynne's Hotel, [Lower Abbey Street, Dublin] on 6 December 1934.
