File includes: two page typed copy headed “Activities in Waterford, 1920-1921”; correspondence between Office of the Referee, James Mansfield (Secretary of the Brigade Committee) and the office of the Minister of Posts and Telegraphs (Patrick John Little) regarding the difficulties and delays in compiling the records of the brigade; Index to Activities detailing the date (by year and month), engagements and numbered page; two page handwritten letter from Michael Power, Secretary, Villerstown Branch, Old IRA Association regarding the situation in that area during the period 1 April 1920 – 11 July 1921; list of the activities includes date of operation, names and addresses of participants and reference to OS maps (reference is made throughout the activity reports to relevant Ordnance Survey maps and the text indicates locations. However, no maps are now found with the material.); list of officers and men of the 3 Battalion, East Waterford Brigade (1 Waterford Brigade); list of officers and men of the A Company, 3 Battalion, 1 Waterford Brigade; details of the activities of A (Callaghane), B (Passage East), C (Killea), D (Ballymacaw), E (Cheekpoint) including names of participants and names of those arrested; list of officers and men of the 6 Battalion, East Waterford Brigade (1 Waterford Brigade) including names of participants and names of those arrested [NOTE 3 Battalion appears to become 6 Battalion on the second critical date]; typed copy records submitted for A Company, 4 Battalion (Waterford City) and are signed by J. Cronin, battalion commander and P O’Faolain, P O’Lionsigh and James Mansfield of the Brigade Committee; “Siege of Waterford” is mentioned including the names of participants and positions manned are recorded; copy of report submitted to GHQ on 21 March 1921 including details of the ambush at Burgery.
