Scope and Content The file contains material relating to the Cumann na mBan Headquarters. It contains, for instance a list of of the members of the Executive (1920-1921), showing Presidents, Vice -Presidents, Committee members, and province representatives. File contains correspondence between Margaret (Loo) Kennedy or the Association of Old Cumann na mBan (Brigid O'Mullane, Secretary) and the Secretary of the Military Service Pensions Board (Eamon Burke) and concerns mainly the submission of records to the Board by the Executive and various locations. A typed statement by Lily Brennan made before the Advisory Committee on 29 March 1935 gives an account of the formation of the organisation, the establishment of its constitution, the role of the Executive, 1916 activities, reporting structure, in particular to the IRA, Executive activities in 1921, an account of the split of the Executive before the start of the Civil War is also given (same document also included in CMB/126). A four page typed memorandum entitled 'Cuman na mBan Service' and signed by John McCoy gives general principles in interpreting qualifying service and active service under the 1934 Act "during Tan War period"'. It covers potential qualifying assets such as despatches, houses used for IRA purposes, arms and documents dumps, intelligence work, first aid. A nineteen page typed document entitled 'Evidence of Deputation of Members of Cumann na mBan on 8th May, '36' is a transcript of a statement by Ms Margaret (Loo) Kennedy. It gives an account on the constitution of the organisation, the roles of captain, secretary and treasurer, activities of the Executive and members through the various periods of service, grades attributed, all in order to administer pensions claims from members of the organisation.
