Scope and Content Material relating to Irish Volunteer activity in counties Louth, Meath and Dublin during Easter Week 1916 with particular reference to the Louth-Meath Brigade including: copies of lists of men who took part in activity during Easter Week in those areas in 1916 submitted by former area Volunteer officers and members of the Brigade Committee to the Advisory Committee to the Referee, Military Service Pensions Act, 1934; listing of individuals whose 1916 Service Pension claims are being or have been processed giving level of award where relevant; signed statements submitted to the Pensions Advisory Committee relating to area activity during Easter Week 1916; typescript document entitled “Statement of the Activities of the Louth Brigade as Abstracted from the Evidence Offered by Various Applicants Under the Act” signed by Pensions Advisory Committee members; complete, partial and edited copies of evidence submitted to the Referee by a deputation of former Louth-Meath Brigade members including Sean McEntee T.D., Minster for Industry and Commerce; copies of correspondence between the Referee, Sean McEntee and the Private Secretary to Minister for Defence relating to a request from Mr. McEntee for a copy of notes of the above submission; correspondence between the Referee and various former Louth-Meath Brigade members mostly requesting or acknowledging the receipt of documentation and/or information; a letter from Sean McEntee to Oscar Traynor T.D. Minister for Defence thanking Mr. Traynor for his actions regarding the 1916 Dundalk men and informing him that he, Sean McEntee, is about to give evidence to the 1916 Service Pensions Advisory Committee; letter to the Private Secretary to Sean McEntee enclosing a listing of former members of 1st (North Louth) Brigade, 4th Northern Division claiming for service during Easter Week 1916; a letter from Daniel Tuite representative of the Dundalk 1916 Club to the Referee and Members of the Military Service Advisory Board requesting that the group be allowed to submit further evidence in support of their claim to 1916 service; copies of letter from the Secretary, the Referee’s Office to the Secretary to the Minster for Defence regarding Daniel Tuite’s letter; and general handwritten internal notes relating to the file added by civil servants.
