Childers, 12 Bushy Park Road, Terenure, Dublin from the Adjutant General informing the recipient that her request for the delivery of the remains of her late husband cannot be granted; typed memorandum/report with handwritten additions (6 December 1922 - 4 January 1923), from the Office of the Chief State Solicitor to the Adjutant General regarding Habeas Corpus proceedings taken in the case of Erskine Childers. This material relates to the unsuccessful attempts to locate and return to Mary Childers, personal effects and property taken from her late husband Erskine Childers following his arrest and investigations by the Department of Defence, the National Army and Defence Forces to determine what had happened to these items. This material relates to: requests for a death certificate in respect of Erskine Childers; discussion as to the correct procedures to be followed for the creation and provision of a death certificate in this case; and the amending of the death certificate following the inclusion of an incorrect date of death for Erskine Childers on the original certificate. This material also includes original [copy] Power of Attorney made and signed by Robert Erskine Childers of 12 Bushy Park Road, Terenure, Dublin to his wife Mary Alden Childers of the same address on 11 August 1922 in the presence of Lily M. O'Brennan and Marie Kennedy O'Byrne and a typed list of "recent" investments made by Mary Alden Childers as of 25 July 1922.
