Title Ceremonial: Annual Ceremonial Parades. General File - PART II 
Scope and Content File contains letters, letters in draft, minutes, copy letters, copy Dail debates and Dail questions for the Minister for Defence mainly relating to the question of Defence Forces participation in Easter parades and the setting aside of a specific date for Easter commemorations. A proposal from the Federation of IRA 1916-1921 to have 24 April (declared a National Holiday) the focus of Easter commemorations received the Taoiseach’s consideration, meetings were arranged with the Minister for Defence, minutes circulated, the views of the Adjutant General of the Defence Forces are recorded and correspondence continues from June 1962 to November 1971 on this matter and other requests from the Dublin Brigade, IRA for Army ( PDF and FCA) assistance at ceremonials organised by the Old IRA. Includes correspondence from the Chief of Staff (Major General T.L. O’Carroll) requesting the direction of the Minister as to participation by the Defence Forces in the Easter Military Parade and a proposal to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Inauguration of the Defence Forces ( sic 15 July 1972). 3pp dated 31 Ean (January) 1972. A reply is prepared by the Department of Defence and the Chief of Staffs proposal for a 50th Anniversary ceremony is not proceeded with.
