| Scope and Content |
File contains copy statements, reports, forms, minutes, notes and related handwritten correspondence, draft and typewritten copy from the Department of Defence showing estimated savings and excesses on the Vote for Army Pensions on an annual basis, commencing for the year1960/61, which are forwarded to the Secretary Department of Finance in line with the requirements of that Department set out in Confidential Circular 14/60 dated 14 Nollaigh (December) 1960. The statements and associated returns and correspondence continue on a yearly basis up to 1972/73 with some changes in format evident in the latter years and provide figures of expenditure/requirements as follows:
A. Army Pensions Board. Salaries, Wages & Allowances.
B. Wound & Disability Pensions & Gratuities etc
C. Allowances & Gratuities to dependants
D. Surgical & Medical appliances
E. Hospital Treatment
F. Military Service Pensions
G. Defence Forces (Pensions) Schemes, 1937 to 1960.
H. Travelling & Incidental Expenses
I. Medical Examination Expenses
J. Connaught Rangers (Pensions) Acts, 1936 to 1960
K. Compensation for death or personal injuries sustained by members of the Local Defence Force and Medical and other expenses in connection therewith
L. Special allowances to persons who served in Easter Week, to persons awarded Medals and to persons granted pensions under the Connaught Rangers (Pension Acts).
M. Mc Swiney (Pensions) Acts, 1950 to 1960.
N. Pensions Acts, 1952 to 1960
O. Special Compensation-United Nations Force in the Congo.
Also includes on inside front cover copies of Confidential Circulars on Savings and Excesses as issued by the Department of Finance for the years 1959, 1961 (handwritten copy), extract of Paragraph 12 of Report of Committee of Public Accounts (handwritten copy, Dated 20 June 1960), 1962, 1963 (handwritten copy), 1964 (Photostat copy), and 1966.
