Subject Information File relates to Kathlyn Philbin's receipt of a partial dependents' gratuity of £112:10:00 (one hundred and twelve pounds and ten shillings sterling) under the Army Pensions Acts 1923 to 1932 in respect of her brother John Philbin, a former member of the IRA. John Philbin's death in 1929 was deemed to be attributable to the effects of wounds received by him in [July] 1922 in fighting between IRA and National Army forces at Boyle, County Roscommon during the Civil War. File includes: material signed and submitted by Kathlyn Philbin in support of her application; signed handwritten statements regarding John Philbin' IRA service and the circumstances surrounding his wounding from Joseph Baker, James Gavin, Michael Kilroy and James Chambers; representations on behalf of Kathlyn Philbin from Richard Walsh TD, and P. J. Ruttledge TD, Minister for Justice; medical certificates and reports relating to John and Kathlyn Philbin; and local area Customs and Excise officer report as to the circumstances and means of the Philbin family and the degree of dependency of Kathlyn Philbin on her brother at the time of the latter's death.
