File relates to Beatrice Carney's unsuccessful application for a military service pension in respect of her claimed service with Cumann na mBan for part of the periods between 1 April 1918 and 30 September 1923.
Claims that she was a member of Newport/Shramore Company, West Mayo Brigade, having joined in April 1918 and that she was involved in routine Cumann na mBan branch activities. Says that she carried dispatches; took care of a Anthony Conlon who was ill for two weeks; transported arms and ammunition on four or five occasions. During the Civil War periods applicant claims that she washed clothes for members of Active Service Unit (Flying Column) and that same stayed in her home. In March 1923 Carney says that she was arrested and released from Claremorris after being questioned by National Army troops.
