File relates to Catherine Lally’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of her son Thomas Lally who was shot and killed by British forces at Cloonkeen, County Mayo. Deceased was one of a party engaged in cutting a road at Cloonkeen when he was shot by British forces.
Reference made an application for compensation under the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee having been made by a James Lally, father of deceased, (£150 awarded).
Catherine Lally was awarded an allowance of £180 per annum from 5 August 1953 subject to the recovery of the award of £150. A notification was issued to applicant on 13 August 1954. Catherine Lally had however died on 7 July 1954. The sum of £16.6.0 was issued to the relatives of Catherine Lally as balance of the allowance.
Also includes unsuccessful application from Bridget Lally, sister of deceased, for an award.
