File relates to Michael Ludden's incomplete/unsuccessful application for a military service pension in respect of his service with the Irish Volunteers and the IRA.
Claims that he joined the British Army on 6 October 1914 and that he served for three years and nine months with the Irish Guards. Claims that while he served in France he was wounded three times. Futher claims that while he returned to Ireland in July 1918 on leave he deserted and joined the Irish Volunteers. Claims that he spent seven months training a company. States that during the War of Independence he assisted Active Service Unit (Flying Column), carried dispatches and collected arms. States that he acted as Intelligence Officer under Brigadier McHugh.
