Subject Information File relates to Michael Condon's receipt of a military service pension in respect of his service with the Irish Volunteers and IRA for part or all of the periods between 1 April 1919 and 11 July 1921. Applicant also claimed unsuccessfully for service in all other periods between 1 April 1916 and 30 September 1923 including mobilisation - active service not allowed - for 1916 Easter Rising. File also relates to subject's application for and receipt of payment under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of wounds incurred by him during the IRA attack on Aherne RIC barracks, County Cork on 15 February 1920. Michael Condon was captured following this attack and subsequently imprisoned by the British authorities until January 1922 File includes: typed transcript (5 pages) of sworn statement made by Michael Condon on 24 April 1936, Con Leddy (12 page) on 6 November 1936 and George Power (1 page) on 9 July 1936 before the Advisory Committee, Military Service Pensions Act, 1934; handwritten signed statements submitted by Michael Condon in support of his applications; material in support of subject's claims submitted from, among others, William Kent TD, Robert Barton, Laurence Condon, David Cotter, Timothy Ring, Patrick Egan Sean Cronin and Tadgh Crowley; medical certificates and reports, personal references, investigations into the circumstances surrounding Condon's wounding and the rank held by him at that time and other supporting documentation relating to his application for and receipt of pensions under the Army Pensions Acts; and material relating to subject's forfeiture of his pensions following his conviction and sentencing on 16 June 1938 in Cork Circuit Court to two years imprisonment on charges of "criminal assault on a young girl (under the age of 21)".
