File relates to Catherine and John McManamon’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of their son Michael McManamon who died on 17 December 1921. Cause of death given as consumption/phthisis pulmonalis.
Mother claims that death was due to ill-treatment by British forces while he was detained in Galway Jail. John McManamon claims that his son was re-arrested in July 1921 and beaten near Tiernaur, Newport district. Catherine McManamon further claims that he was arrested for the possession of seditious documents.
John McManamon made an unsuccessful claim for compensation under the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee.
