File relates to Thomas Ruddy’s application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of his son Joseph Ruddy who was killed on 24 November 1922 near Newport, County Mayo.
Application initially rejected but Thomas Ruddy was awarded £50 upon review. Thomas Ruddy makes reference to another son having been a member of the National Forces. He also makes reference to Joseph Ruddy taking part in the Easter Rising, 1916 and been imprisoned for 18 months following the Rising.
It is noted on file that Michael Kilroy (MSP34REF839) was captured by National Forces during the engagement on 24 November 1922.
