| Subject Information |
File relates to the claim of George Mulkerns, ex-Connaught Ranger. File contains material relating to Ex-Connaught Rangers who participated in the Mutiny in India in 1920 in which applicant is to provide their particulars of British Army service and findings of court martial. Applicant enlisted in November 1915 and served on national soil until 1916 when he served in France with the Royal Engineers before being transferred to the Connaught Rangers in January 1919. He was imprisoned with others when the battalion was disbanded and claimed to have contracted malaria during that time.
Despite claiming to have participated in the mutiny, as the applicant was not court-martialled, he was deemed ineligible for an award under the terms of the Connaught Rangers (Pensions) Act, 1936.
File contains general correspondence, application forms and letters of representation.
