File relates to James McGreal's unsuccessful application for a military service pension in respect of his claimed service with the Irish Volunteers, the IRA and the National Forces.
The Board of Assessors recognised service between 1 July 1922 and 30 September 1923.
Claims that he joined the Irish Volunteers in 1915 or January 1916 and that he took part in routine activities. Says that he served with E Company, 3 Battalion, West Mayo Brigade. States that he enlisted in the National Forces on 25 July 1922 in Westport and was discharged on 11 April 1924.
File (4P1007) relates to James McGreal's unsuccessful application for a wound pension or gratuity under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of disease contracted by him while serving with the National Army. Claimed that he suffered from rheumatic pain as a result of wettings and exposure at Westport in November 1923. Claimed that he also injured his back following a fall from a Crossley tender in Westport Barracks in November 1922.
