File relates to Catherine O’Boyle’s unsuccessful application under the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the death of her son Patrick O’Boyle who died on 18 June 1932.
Cause of death recorded as pulmonary tuberculosis. Death due to disease not attributable to service. Applicant claimed that the deceased received a gunshot wound to his shoulder for which he was unable to receive medical attention. She further claimed that he was a patient in Castlebar Mental Hospital suffering from mental derangement which occurred about 1924. She claims that he was on the run and had to sleep out in inclement weather conditions from which he contracted colds.
The Military Service Registration Board recognised service within the meaning of Part II of the Army Pensions Act, 1932 between 1918 and 1923.
