File relates to Catherine Hyland’s unsuccessful application for a military service pension under the Military Service Pensions Act 1934 for the pre-Truce (1917-1921) Period only.
Hyland states she was a member of Louisburgh Branch of Cumann na mBan 1 Battalion, West Mayo Brigade for part or all of the service periods between 01 April 1918 up to up the end of the War of Independence on 11 July 1921. She states she partook in the usual activitiesincluding attending first aid training, carrying dispatches, concealing and transporting arms and doing intelligence work.
Hyland did not claim for active service during the Truce period or Civil War (June 1922 – May 1923).
