File relates to Bridget Sweeney's unsuccessful application for a military service pension in respect of her claimed service with Cumann na mBan for part of the periods between 1 April 1918 and 30 September 1923.
Claims that she was a member of West Mayo Brigade, 4 Western Division and took part in routine activities. Says that she was involved in dispatch work and in procuring food and shelter for members of the IRA. applicant claims that she was employed as a maid and helped to secure firearms from [Welford] lodge and [Rossina] House, Newport, County Mayo. Applicant claimed for similar activities during the Civil War periods.
