File relates to Peter Horkan's unsuccessful application for a military service pension in respect of his claimed service with the Irish Volunteers and the IRA for part of the periods between 1 April 1916 and 30 September 1923.
States that he stood to during Easter Week, 1916. In the following periods applicant claims that he raided for arms; assisted with elections and transported petrol. During the War of Independence applicant claims that he was involved in: manufacture of home made bombs; joined the Active Service Unit (Flying Column); transported ammunition to Tourmakedy. In the Truce period says that he was in the taking over of [Castlebar] Barracks. Following the outbreak of the Civil War applicant claims that he sniped at National Army troops and took part in attack on Castlebar Barracks.
