Applicant claimed membership of Cumann na mBan in the service periods between 01 April 1918 and 30 September 1923 during the War of Independence, Truce period and Civil War. Letitia Kelly states that she was a member of Glenhest Compay, 2 Battalion, West Mayo Brigade, Cumann na mBan under the command of Bridie Kelly. During the War of Independence (January 1919 – July 1921), she claims that she took part in catering for IRA forces and dispatch work. Taking the anti-Treaty side in the Civil War, the subject claims that she took part in routine activity. File includes references in support of the subject’s claim from Michael Mangan (1941).
