During the War of Independence (January 1919 - July 1921), Mary Joyce states that she served under the command of Michael McHugh and James Chambers and took part in dispatch work; transporting small arms and feeding and washing for IRA men after ambushes.
Taking the anti-Treaty side in the Civil War (June 1922 - May 1923), the applicant states that she took part in similar activity.
